Google has been fighting with Yelp (anti-trust lawsuit over this one) trying to dominate consumer reviews and recently removed all third-party reviews from Places pages. They used to include all the reviews from around the web under your business name. And now they don’t show them on your search results. They are only showing Google Reviews so – guess what? You need Google Reviews.
This can actually add a bonus highlight to your business listing on search results because those yellow stars are quite bright and attractive and who doesn’t love stars?
It apparently pays off to have Google Reviews. I know, I know, this means that your people will need to leave separate reviews for Yelp and Google – how much more difficult can this be? Well, one of the huge changes that Google has recently made is that they no longer require the reviewer to have a Google account to leave a review. How much more simple could that be?
So get your followers over there! Go to maps.google.com and find your business – click on the name to get your Places page to come up – then send your people directly to the Places page. And if you don’t have a Places page yet, quit foolin’ around and get one.
